DID NOT MENTION THE NAME OF THE COMMANDER OF SPECIAL FORCE
Gurgen Yeghiazaryan who was released on July 21 after 145 days in custody held a news conference on July 22 and asked reporters to inquire into the following questions. Gurgen Yeghiazaryan asked if it is true that on March 1 the commander of the so-called special operation force of Karabakh was on Leo Street on March 1. Gurgen Yeghiazaryan said that perhaps it will be difficult for the reporters to find out the answer because the government which possesses the footage of the events on Leo Street will not provide it to the reporters. Nevertheless, Gurgen Yeghiazaryan asked them to inquire into another question. Gurgen Yeghiazaryan asked if it is true that that the commander of that special force had been convicted for an assault. Yeghiazaryan said he was told that a few years ago the commander assaulted one of the currency exchange offices on Spandaryan Square, wounded two persons with a gun, was arrested and sentenced to 12 years. However, according to Yeghiazaryan, he was released in 2000 and was appointed commander of the special operation force of Karabakh. Gurgen Yeghiazaryan asked if the information he has is true but did not mention the name of the commander. At least, in answer to the question of reporters Gurgen Yeghiazaryan said the person who told him about that did not mention the name.
