AGHVAN HOVSEPYAN’S RELATIVE BROUGHT THE HEDGEHOGS
The so-called metal hedgehogs of the Square of Freedom which the government demonstrated on TV as the weapon of the demonstrators had been brought to the square by Vrezh Nikolyan, a relative of the prosecutor general Aghvan Hovsepyan. This is the opinion of Gurgen Yeghiazaryan who was in custody from March 3 to July 21 on charges of usurpation of power. Gurgen Yeghiazaryan’s opinion is based on the information he got from Vrezh Nikolyan that Nikolyan and the prosecutor general Hovsepyan are cousins. Nikolyan told about it when he was in the same cell with Gurgen Yeghiazaryan. And Yeghiazaryan told reporters about what Nikolyan had told him on July 22, in a news conference. Gurgen Yeghiazaryan also said that Nikolyan’s brother is assistant to the head of the community of Ajapniak Ruben Hovsepyan, who is Aghvan Hovsepyan’s brother. Judging by that information, Gurgen Yeghiazaryan supposes that the government was unable to find someone among the peaceful demonstrators who would be ready for such an abject act and employed their relatives. Although Nikolyan told Yeghiazaryan that he brought the hedgehogs to the square in case water cannons are brought to the square, Gurgen Yeghiazaryan thinks the government did a provocation through Aghvan Hovsepyan’s relative. Yeghiazaryan says it is difficult to believe that the person who worked for the election campaign of Serge Sargsyan together with his relative cares for protecting peaceful demonstrators from water cannons. Gurgen Yeghiazaryan says he told this to Nikolyan who lowered his head as he spoke to him. In answer to the reporters why Nikolyan was so sincere to Yeghiazaryan regarding his relation to Aghvan Hovsepyan, Yeghiazaryan said when a person spends days in a cell, they become frank with their cell mates.
