SEMI-DRYLY TO EUROPE
Armenia has no problem of managing the PACE resolutions 1609 and 1620, stated Serge Sargsyan in a news conference on July 21. He says Armenia acknowledges the importance of those resolutions, is grateful to Europe for the assistance that it gives Armenia toward success. However, what is set down in those resolutions is the credo of the Armenian government which is included in the program of the government, Serge Sargsyan says. Serge Sargsyan assures that the program will be brought into being for the sake of a more democratic Armenia. “I do not think there will be a flood if we do not manage to implement some provision by January,” stated Serge Sargsyan. He said it is certainly desirable to implement those steps as soon as possible, which are necessary to promote democracy in Armenia but he added that “it is a little wrong” to set a timing. He repeated, however, that Europe’s assistance for democracy is important and assures that Armenia will honor the obligations which it assumed voluntarily, first before itself, then before Europe.
