WHO PUT UP RUMORS ABOUT TIGRAN SARGSYAN’S RESIGNATION
In a news conference on July 18 the reporters asked the speaker of the National Assembly Tigran Torosyan for explanations on his resignation and the election of Hovik Abarahamyan as speaker of parliament, rumors on which continue to come even though Tigran Torosyan stated a few weeks ago that he is not going to resign. The speaker of the National Assembly said he has already commented on that and is unlikely to repeat. Instead, Tigran Torosyan commented on the reports in the press on the replacement of the speaker of parliament. He said he is aware of those reports and he knows how those are ordered. However, Tigran Torosyan said he is reluctant to comment on the falsehood published in the media. Tigran Torosyan said he has worked in public administration for nine years, and people know the style of his work and his abilities. The speaker of the National Assembly says everyone knows who is who and what everyone does. Nevertheless, the reporters asked that if all that falsehood aims to denigrate the National Assembly, the institution of the president, the Republican Party, why none of these structures responds fundamentally to those rumors. Tigran Torosyan was brief and only said that for instance the press had also published that he used to be a member of the headquarters for March 1. Tigran Torosyan described those rumors as preposterous. According to him, if every preposterous thing is commented, if will cost expensive. As to denigrating, the speaker says nobody can denigrate anyone, and through such falsehood people denigrate themselves. Although Tigran Torosyan was reluctant to speak more about his resignation, the reporters were more obstinate, and asked him that there is no smoke without fire, and what will Tigran Torosyan do and tell after the government makes a political decision and replaces the speaker of the National Assembly. Besides, the reporters also wanted the deputy leader of the Republican Party Tigran Torosyan to reveal what is underway inside the Republican Party regarding the replacement of the speaker and whether it has a political context or is a personal issue. Tigran Torosyan said as to processes inside the Republican Party, if the party wished to tell something on some issue, it would do. If it did not announce anything, there is no need to make a guess and to go on to comment on that guess. The speaker of parliament stated that he has given a full answer regarding the resignation, “at least for now”, Tigran Torosyan said.
