DOES THE LAW ALLOW TOO MANY THINGS?
It is immoral to manipulate the events of March 1 for political aims, stated the leader of the National Accord Party Aram Harutiunyan, a member of the ad hoc committee to inquire into the events of March 1, who was hosted at the Hayeli press club on July 18 for a debate with Member of Parliament Vardan Khachatryan from the Heritage Party. Aram Harutiunyan accused that the political force Vardan Khachatryan represents does not participate in the committee and does not favor the revelation of the real picture of March 1. In particular, Aram Harutiunyan noted that instead of sharing their information with the media they should participate in the inquiry of the ad hoc committee. Besides, Aram Harutiunyan noted that the Heritage Party appointed the arrested members of parliament Hakob Hakobyan and Sasun Mikayelyan to the committee, which is unacceptable. In answer to that Vardan Khachatryan noted that they did not appoint Hakob Hakobyan but Miasnik Malkhasyan. Aram Harutiunyan said it makes no difference, he meant the arrested members of parliament. Vardan Khachatryan said if there is no difference between Malkhasyan and Hakobyan, we may say not three but two members of parliament were arrested, one of them has two names. Besides, Vardan Khachatryan said the law allows appointing arrested members of parliament, especially if they are not accused of anything, and their custody is groundless. Aram Harutiunyan’s answer to this indeed leads to national accord: “The law allows too many things.” Aram Harutiunyan said if the parliament majority rejected that appointment, the Heritage could have appointed its members of parliament who were amid the events of March 1. In answer to that Vardan Khachatryan said politics is not conformism.
