THE PRESENCE OF THE GOVERNMENT IN YEREVAN BECOMES UNNECESSARY
- The visit of the members of the Armenian government to the border military installations was rather impressive. The military uniform, the camouflage suited the members of government so well, especially against the background of the border installations that perhaps it is worthwhile to move the residence of the government to the border installations. For instance, the ministry of agriculture could be located at the installations of the region of Tavush, the ministry of environment would be in another military unit, the ministry of energy and natural resources in another place, and so on. All the ministries would be connected to one another through a big chain of trenches, and all of them would be connected to the office of the prime minister which would be in the best installation. This would help solve several issues at once. First, the government would be close to the border areas, and would respond quickly to the problems of the local population and the soldiers serving at the border, and would promote the development of the border areas more effectively. The center of Yerevan seems to have developed sufficiently, and further development seems to take place by inertia, and the presence of the government at the center of Yerevan becomes unnecessary. Let them go to the border, and as part of the practice of circuit meetings of government they would hold a meeting in Yerevan once in three months. In fact, the government does not need to visit Yerevan more often. Moreover, thereby the problem of confidence in government will be solved too, at least among the people of Yerevan, and the population of Yerevan is at least half of the population of Armenia, let alone a considerable number of people from other towns and villages who commute to Yerevan every day to work, to study or to sell produce. When the government will have left Yerevan and works on the border, in a few months the people will start missing the prime minister and the ministers. And it takes a step from missing to confidence, as a very old minister would say, who regrets that during his office he was devoid of the powerful weapon of propaganda due to the absence of camouflage and border installations. Besides, after taking the government to the borders a number of buildings will become vacant which could be sold and make additional money for the state budget and spend it on improving the working conditions of the government based in border installations, for instance, to build a central heating system in the trenches or repair and color black the office tanks or armored cars because it is a pity to spoil Mercedes, BMW or Nissan cars in trenches. It will also be possible to raise the salary of the ministers on that money, as Member of Parliament Artsvik Minasyan from the ARF Dashnaktsutyun has suggested. By the way, if any money is left, it is possible to create conditions for the parliament and take the legislature to the border as well. The reason is the same, let it strengthen the borders with their legislative activities, and people will miss them a little. Then the office of the supreme commander in chief of the armed force would be taken to the border. Why are they staying in Yerevan, before the eyes of half of the republic? JAMES HAKOBYAN
