RAMKAVAR PARTY CRITICIZES SERGE SARGSYAN’S STATEMENT

The president of the Republic of Armenia Serge Sargsyan has recently made the following statement in Moscow: “The Turkish side offers to set up a commission to inquire into the historical facts.” The president continued: “We do not mind setting up such a commission but only when the border between our states opens…” After this statement, on several subsequent occasions, Mr. Sargsyan officially hinted at the necessity of opening the border between Armenia and Turkey and the importance of direct communication between two countries which are neighbors. Considering the lack of a distinct national concept of a fair resolution of the Armenian Cause, the Liberal Democratic Ramkavar Party considers the statement of the president of the Republic of Armenia as a disputable pronouncement, no matter what diplomatic makeup it wears. After all, an action that questions, even to the least degree, the indisputable truth of the Armenian genocide is not in our supreme national interests. Proceeding from the abovementioned, the Liberal Democratic Ramkavar Party considers it as important and expedient for our government not to spare effort to direct all our national and individual possibilities to pursue the Armenian Cause, as well as the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and a fair solution, no matter how hard it may be.
