ACTIVITIES OF THE CITY HALL IN NUMBERS
The mayor of Yerevan Yervand Zakharyan presented the report on the activities of the city authorities in the first half of 2008 on July 14. According to the mayor, the social and economic action plan estimated activities of 79072.7 million drams for the city hall and the communities but in fact more was done, activities of 83251.2 million drams. In the first half of 2008 the zoning of the area of Shengavit community, monitoring of activities of zoning projects and urgent development projects for separate areas of Yerevan, drafting of projects of red lines of highways and a program of engineering protection of areas which underwent dangerous geological impact, drafting of the program of greenery and other activities were launched. Yervand Zakharyan stated that the green areas per capita have increased by 3 percent in the city. In urban planning, demolition is underway in Kond and 33 quarters, as well as in the area near the Pushkin Park. The mayor said the construction of the first apartment building in Kond will be launched in September where first the residents of that area will get apartments who agreed to get apartments in the same area after demolition. In the first half of 2008, 10 buildings of third degree damage were renovated, 2 apartment buildings were built for the residents of buildings of fourth degree damage, lighting of 30 km of 17 streets was repaired, in 5 communities 10.8 km of irrigation network was repaired. In education, activities of 9234.5 million drams to repair schools and nursery schools, install boilers and heating systems were foreseen, of which 97.8 percent have been carried out.
