ANOTHER PROVOCATION AGAINST THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE SITTING PROTEST
The Center of the Popular Movement issued a statement which holds: “On July 11 the government organized another provocation against the participants of the hunger protest. At about 8 o’clock in the evening a group of people sent by them installed speakerphones in the place of the sitting protest and started playing. At the same time, violating Article 7.5 of the law on rallies, marches, assemblies which bars distributing and drinking alcohol in public events started distributing free beer. The participants of the sitting protest and the political walk guessed the aim of this provocation, voiced protest and demanded that the police prevent the violation of order, stop distribution of alcohol, as well as another event held in the same place. The police, however, unfaithful to their mission of protecting social order, did not do anything to prevent the violation of social order but protected the wrongdoers. Only the negotiations of the leaders of the Movement with the organizers of the music event could stop the unwanted concert and restore social order and peace. This is another attempt in the chain of provocations organized by the government. In order to suppress the incessant actions of protest on North Avenue since March 21 they have used truncheons and electric stun guns, illegal arrests and assaults by mops, various other forms of provocation. However, each of their new provocation is the disgrace of the anti-popular regime, strengthening the popular riot and momentum of the struggle of the Movement. We believe in the integrity and law-abiding supporters and we call on the government to give up abject and bad quality devices and use civilized methods of struggle against the opposition. Dear compatriots, this agony of the regime shows that our struggle is right and effective, therefore we call on everyone to take part more actively in the actions of the Popular Movement.”
