RAFFI DECLINED DAVIT HARUTIUNYAN

Raffi Hovannisian, member of the Armenian delegation to the PACE, considers Davit Harutiunyan, the head of the same delegation, as a prepared person with a broad mind but he declines his request to stop the boycott of the Armenian delegation to the PACE, Raffi Hovannisian said on July 7 at the Hayeli club. He said he is grateful for that request but his decision will not be determined by Davit Harutiunyan’s invitation. His return will be determined by the state of democracy in Armenia if it complies with and deserves the PACE. According to Raffi Hovannisian, one or two soldiers in the PACE cannot reach anything regarding the external issues of Armenia unless the country which the soldiers represent complies with democratic principles. Raffi Hovannisian noted that the quality of the state affects the activities of all the delegations of Armenia, which can merely employ ten percent of their potential because the state forces them to. In the meantime, if there were a democratic state, the activities of the delegation, according to Raffi Hovannisian, would have been more effective. Therefore he thinks that we must seek the solution of our problems in ourselves, and not miss the chance of solving them around a table and not wait until they force us from the outside, and not look for a scapegoat abroad, amongst international organizations or great powers.
