POETIC BLOW TO THE GOVERNMENT
The poet Razmik Davoyan has recently expressed rather interesting thoughts in one of the press clubs, which are rather competitive in show business where the state of expression of thoughts is also rather prosperous. The organizers of the Annual National Music Awards could even add a nomination “The Year’s Thought” to which Nune Yesayan could aspire, for instance, or Razmik Davoyan who is a representative of poetry although, not show business, but the National Music Awards has already extended its range and includes not only show. Razmik Davoyan said we need no elections, we need appointments, and that’s it. The freedom of mind of the poet is certainly touching, maybe even more touching than his poems themselves. It is difficult to tell how the government will resist and not to appoint Razmik Davoyan somewhere for this state building idea. At least, over the past few days since this idea Razmik Davoyan has not been appointed anywhere, so it means that the government resisted. Or maybe did not hear at all. Therefore, we remind once again that the poet, the ex-adviser to the president of Armenia, the ex-member of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Razmik Davoyan has stated in one of the press clubs answering the question of reporters, that no elections are needed, only appointments, that’s it. Certainly he did not give more detail which appointments he meant but hardly any poet ever gives detail. For details, there are novel writers or at least prose writers. If the poet went into detail, there would be novels instead of poems. Imagine, for instance, that the public demanded that Yeghisheh Charents specified the line “As a ripped string of the abandoned cello”. Imagine what would have happened to the work of the great poet if the public had demanded that he specify who abandoned the cello, why, whether the string was ripped after it had been abandoned or before, whether it is impossible to play the ripped string, and so on. The poet creates and passes on, the public should understand and appreciate instead of asking unnecessary questions. Hence, it is absolutely unimportant what appointments the poet of our times is speaking about. If he is not Charents, it does not mean that unnecessary questions should be asked to him, especially that the meaning of his statement is highly clear: Armenia needs no elections. And perhaps it is not so important whether there will be appointments or not. Most importantly, basically, especially for the government, elections are unnecessary. However, there is no need to judge that Razmik Davoyan stated this to make the life of the government easier. No, in reality, he is honest with the society. What election, why election if it is flawed anyway. It is better if there are appointments when it is clear who appoints and who is responsible for the government rather than to shape a government and say through different tribunes that the society voted for the given political force in the elections. Hence, Razmik Davoyan’s statement is a unique objective evaluation of the present government. This government is incapable of holding elections, therefore it is necessary to save the idea of elections, hide it away until better times come. For the time being, appointments are enough. And perhaps this is the reason why the government has not appointed Razmik Davoyan somewhere, perhaps because he has understood that Davoyan’s statement is not in its favor but a blow disguised by the skill of the poetic thought. Although the government could have dealt a counterblow which would have been no less poetic, and appoint Razmik Davoyan who appreciates appointments instead of elections as the chair of the Central Election Commission.
