CONGRESS IS STRATEGY, TACTICS REQUIRES SCORING AT LEAST A GOAL
“I offered to change the direction of the blow from the throne to the dissolution of the institution of parliamentarianism, for the sake of national solidarity, political unity of the nation,” says the Marxist Davit Hakobyan who dwelled on the home political situation in Armenia in a news conference on May 22 at the Hayeli press club, referring to his address to the May 2 congress of forces supporting Levon Ter-Petrosyan. According to him, disbanding the parliament is not a way to quench the desires of the opposition, the dissidents but an ideological and political change. “The same people have been in parliament for 15 years, singing the same song. Today our biological security requires a new economic policy. And we can see the result of this mental weakness, what the prime minister says, what the president says. It is a tragedy when the state is not prepared to meet rise of price abroad,” Davit Hakobyan says. If the government does not realize this and does not disband the parliament, according to Davit Hakobyan, his resource will be enough for holding on to power for hardly a year, and if he does not disband the parliament, Serge Sargsyan will have to sacrifice the crown. “Only us, everything is ours, it is impossible,” Davit Hakobyan says. He says the sterilization of the political sphere is a crime against the state. “The only alternative, I think, is the establishment of the institution of parliamentarianism based on new principles. The dissolution is inevitable. Even if they try to prolong this process, I think it will not succeed,” Davit Hakobyan says. With regard to the steps of the opposition, he thinks the possibility of depreciation is dangerous. Davit Hakobyan gives the example of football, saying that they cannot forgive when the penalty is not kicked. “Because if you take the penalty, and you do not kick it.
