BE REALISTIC, DEMAND THE IMPOSSIBLE
On May 14 the small action organized by a group of artists in front of Yerevan State University caused a big commotion, especially among some representatives of the leadership of the university. The action organized by the artists was devoted to the student movement in France in 1968 the participants of which seized the branch of the university of Sorbonne 40 years ago on May 14. The organizers of the action on May 14 in front of the university say almost all the layers of the French society endorsed the students, and the French revolution started. According to Hovanes Margaryan, one of the initiators of the action which marked the events which took place 40 years ago, the purpose is to keep students alert and naturally drew parallels with the home political reality in Armenia. The purpose determined the posters which the organizers of the action held up - “University, stability is in grave”, or the legend of the picture of Che Guevara ran “Be realistic, demand the impossible”. The action lasted for 15 minutes after which official people went up to the participants. Two men quickly walked to the organizers and started gathering the posters. In answer to the demand to introduce themselves they said nothing and left. Only after they were told that they are afraid of introducing themselves, the leaving persons turned round and one of them said he was not afraid and he is the deputy rector, and the other turned out to be a professor named Gegham Gevorgyan. It was impossible to learn the name of the deputy rector because after saying that he is the deputy rector he quickly departed. After this the policemen walking around the place went up to the organizers of the action and the students, and started asking questions. After the demand to introduce themselves they became less active and only said that they wanted to know what event is taking place.
