DIPLOMATS BELIEVE THEY WILL WIN THE CASE
Four of the foreign ministry officials who endorsed the citizens who stood up for their rights and freedoms after the presidential election and voiced concern about the situation in the country and lack of confidence in the elections stated May 12 at the Friday Press Club that they will pursue justice at court and will be restored to their positions. The officials hadmade a statement on February 24, after which the former foreign minister Vardan Oskanyan dismissed them, explaining that they had violated the law and endorsed the political opposition, Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Four of the dismissed officials of the foreign ministry went to court. On May 12 their attorney Levon Baghdasaryan made a statement that his defendants are not guilty, they did not violate any law because the law bars them from using their status for any political party or religious group, meanwhile the statement of the foreign ministry officials contains no word of support for any political party or political force. The attorney thinks they were dismissed due to false information. The ex-spokesman of the foreign ministry Vladimir Karapetyan, one of the diplomats who went to court, said unfortunately the foreign ministry continues to insist on its mistake and violate the law instead of realizing that the events of March have created a difficult situation for Armenia regarding Karabakh and the foreign policies in general. Vladimir Karapetyan is convinced that the court will meet their claim and they will be restored to their positions. As to the question whether they will agree to work at the ministry in case the court decides in their favor, Vladimir Karapetyan said they will think about it after the verdict of the court. The diplomat said they are convinced that the court will be just, and it will be a precedent for the people who were unlawfully dismissed.
