LEVON TER-PETROSYAN WARNS AZERBAIJAN AND APPEALS TO THE UNITED STATES
The first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan addressed the second congress of the Popular Movement on May 2 and stated that Azerbaijan should not think that it can make use of the political process and popular struggle against the illegitimate government in Armenia and try to succeed at the line of contact. Levon Ter-Petrosyan said in case of a threat of aggression, if Azerbaijan attempts to make such a step, he will address people personally for the participants of the Popular Movement to stop the struggle for a while and defend the homeland together. Levon Ter-Petrosyan stated this in response to the accusations of the government propaganda alleging that the opposition favors Azerbaijan. The first president also said that when the war starts, the people who are now undergoing persecution and are in prison will be on the front. At the same time, Levon Ter-Petrosyan also appealed to the government of the United States and the Millennium Challenge Corporation, urging them not to use economic sanctions on Armenia and not to cut or suspend assistance to Armenia. Levon Ter-Petrosyan says eventually people will suffer from suspension of those programs, therefore the movement he leads is deeply worried about statements from abroad, and appeals the United States with this concern. Levon Ter-Petrosyan said the aim of the popular movement is not only to direct the political protest of the society but also the social protest, and considering the total soaring of prices of foodstuffs and the possibility of a social riot is high, Levon Ter-Petrosyan says the aim of the movement should be prevention of a social riot which may harm not only the society but also the state.

What he is saying is that if Azeri attack, he will put aside the political bickering and unite around the troops. Sounds like something a typical citizen of a particular country would say. There's nothing wrong with the statement. It was LTP who dooped aliev, by making him believe that LTP had no role in the karabagh war strategy during warfare. I recommand people read the writings of the senior Aliev, pretty interesting stuff.- ARSHAK-10
