THE ONLY OPPOSITION HAS NO EXPECTATIONS FROM THE COMMISSION
In a news conference on April 30 at the National Press Club the reporters asked Raffi Hovannisian, the leader of the only opposition faction of the parliament, the Heritage, about his thoughts on the commission which Serge Sargsyan has set up to study the ways of implementation of the PACE recommendations. The reporters asked whether the commission will help the country return to the path for democracy if it is led by Hovik Abrahamyan. “I think they are not supposed to solve problems but to present to the head of state the package proposal which stems from the PACE resolution. Therefore, I cannot express an opinion beforehand. Therefore I said there is some, I do not mean a clash of interests but some controversy because the participants are also the subjects of the resolution and its requirements. Therefore I do not think that the solution will be reached through this working group,” Raffi Hovannisian said, noting that he nevertheless expects that the commission will be able to offer practical proposals to the president soon.
