WHAT WILL A COMMON FAN THINK WHO DOES NOT MANAGE TO CELEBRATE THE VICTORY
- Perhaps there is no need to prove that pre-election Armenia becomes much stranger than usual Armenia. Generally, in all the countries the choice of election tools reaches the point of appearing strange in the pre-election period. But since oddities are the usual mode of life in Armenia, in the pre-election state everything rises up to the superlative degree. The pre-election oddities could be divided into two groups: oddities which are illegal and oddities which are not illegal but it would be better if they were illegal than what they are now. There is a great deal of talking about illegal oddities. It seems there is no more to add. Simply Mashtots did not know the Armenians would hold elections and violate the laws they write in their own language. If he had known, or at least Sahak Partev had realized in time, he would have given more money, and Mesrop Mashtots would have traveled to more countries, worked a little harder, and we would have a more eloquent and rich language not to run out of language means in pre-election descriptions. Because it is obvious that our language does not keep up with our thoughts. Perhaps this is the reason why there is no perception of illegality among the Armenians. Illegality is committed but is not perceived. The problem is that language is for describing what the thought commits. Meanwhile, before our language describes one illegality of the thought entirely, our mind commits a more luxurious illegality. And so on: the language of Armenians is chasing the thoughts and does not reach.

However, nothing is absolute and this point of view cannot be absolute. It is also possible that our language does not keep up with our thoughts because it started running at breakneck speed and left thought behind. Perhaps this is the reason why things are often said by people whose language shows up long before the thought appears. As a rule, these things occur more frequently in the pre-election period and these are the oddities which do not break the law but as a rule they have a more serious and long-term consequence than illegality. For instance, the illegalities in Armenia perhaps did not make the society disappointed with the country as much as the chess players did with their statement to endorse the Republican Party. What is the problem? The problem is that the thought that the country is not only an incubator of the anti-law elite and their servitors but also a forge of meta-interest group victories bolsters up the moral in the society which witnesses illegality. One of these victories, the Olympic gold in chess, encouraged and excited the society, making them think that Armenia is the chess players and not the criminal officials and their bodyguards. It became known, however, that the goal of the victory was to advertise a political party, and the society saw that the hypothesis of the incubator is closer to the reality. The citizens seemed to be overcoming the dose of disappointment that that chess players poured on their heads after the joy but the pre-election period displayed its oddities again. The unprecedented victory of the Armenian weightlifters was politicized at the moment of greeting them at the airport when the flags of Armenia and the Bargavach Hayastan Party were there. Why the flag of the Bargavach Hayastan Party? Only because Gagik Tsarukyan is the president of the Olympic Committee of Armenia? Meanwhile, the fans who do not sympathize and affiliate with any political force and went as citizens, as subjects of Armenia to celebrate the victory and thank the weightlifters, will state with surprise that he takes part in a political event rather than a national event. And the event is political because it becomes part of the campaign for a political party. The leader of the Bargavach Hayastan Party Gagik Tsarukyan announced during his campaign that he vowed medals and kept his promise to prove that he keeps his promises. What if the citizens ask: “But the promise included not only weightlifting. We have wrestlers too, who took part in the European championship simultaneously. Why nobody speaks about their failure? Or weren’t they lucky enough because the president of the federation of weightlifting and not the president of the federation of wrestling visited Armenia several days before the European championship and was lucky to be received by the president?” What if they ask? What will be in that case? Would they greet the wrestlers with lowered flags of the Bargavach Hayastan Party to mark the failure? It would be an inappropriate oddity for the pre-election period.
