ARMENIAN PEOPLE WILL CLAIM THEIR RIGHTS
- On the 92nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 thousands of people visit the memorial to 1.5 million victims of the Genocide. On April 24 Armenian high-ranking government officials and clergy visited the memorial. Our reporter talked to a few people who are well-known to the public.

Arpi Vardanyan (head of Armenian office of Armenian Assembly of America) When we say the recognition of the Armenian genocide, we mean all the genocides. The world knows what a genocide is and realizes that the Armenian genocide was the first, and if it had not taken place, the Holocaust, Darfur, Rwanda would not be perpetrated. If we prevent new genocides, our generations will live at peace and will not have such problems.
Michael Harutiunyan (acting minister of defense of Armenia) We must come here not to forget what happened, not to forget the people who perished, to prevent similar tragedies in the world. It is bad not only for the Armenian people but also for the humanity and the world. Let our neighbors not think for a moment that we may forget our victims.
Raffi Hovannisian The recognition of the genocide is the unity of the nation, the legitimacy of the republic and the credentials of people in both Armenia and the Diaspora. There is progress toward the recognition of the genocide. One thing is obvious truth to Armenia: the Armenian genocide is a historical fact, there is evidence to it in libraries, archives, modern documents and testimonies in different countries. We must be able to transform these recognitions into political, diplomatic and legal confirmation to apply to real life and enable the Armenian people to claim their rights. However, without the rule of law, justice, honoring of human rights in the Republic of Armenia we cannot expect the world to recognize and maintain justice. This day is not only a day of mourning, it is a day for looking ahead and coming together. The nation will overcome every challenge if it is united, if we all are protected by the law. I am sure that May 12 will be followed by a new dawn, a dawn for the reputation, image of the Republic of Armenia and strong diplomacy.
