- It is rather difficult to say if the change of the logic of the home political process in Armenia is determined by the death of Andranik Margaryan. However, it is a fact that after his death the growing influence of the Russian factor in the home political life of Armenia and the Republican Party’s aggressive behavior are obvious. The same could have happened when Andranik Margaryan was alive. It is difficult to tell. Perhaps even it is not essential because there is a situation which the political forces have to take into account and think about an adequate reaction. If Russia is becoming more active in Armenia, which is obvious from the visits and interviews of not only high-ranking officials but also the political scientists working on the “sides” of the Kremlin, the other political forces can oppose only with the Western support. It is rather difficult to fight the Republican administrative and criminal resource if it gets the comprehensive support of the almost identical corps of Russia. However, the West appears unlikely to be active in the pre-election period.

It may be determined by the fact that there is agreement with Russia, at which Sergey Lavrov hinted during his visit to Armenia in early April, saying that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have unique unanimity in their stances on the settlement of the conflict over Karabakh. The point is that the conflict over Karabakh rules out unanimity between the co-chairs. It may be present only in case the conflict is expanded to cover the regional processes, including the home political developments in Armenia, considering the possible influence of the factor of Karabakh. In this connection, what Lavrov stated suits the ongoing process: Russia has stepped up an offensive, Danilovich has written no letter to Kocharyan over this period. In addition, George Bush sent a congratulation letter, not to Kocharyan but to Serge Sargsyan, on his appointment as a prime minister. It is interesting that the congratulation came 13 days after the appointment. If we believe the mystical meaning of the number, the congratulation letter of Bush may be deciding for Serge Sargsyan. In addition, the U.S. president reminds our prime minister about May 12 and wishes him courage and determination.
Of course, it does not mean that the message of Bush may have a bad consequence for the prime minister and block his triumphant march towards the president administration. After all, one needs courage not only to face the challenges but also to accept the gifts of destiny. Otherwise, one may lose one’s head of success. And in our region it will certainly roll to the Iranian border if one faces north all of the time. The geographical position is such, and there is nothing to be done about it. By the way, perhaps the United States took into account the geographical position when it decided not to waste much energy in Armenia. In order to do something in the South it is necessary to begin with the North, and whatever is done will glide down to the North. Bush must know that the South is lower than the North. The Americans perhaps gave total freedom to the Russians in Armenia and they got down to Moscow. In other words, they decided to attack the fort from the rear. It is difficult to remember when rallies were held last time in Russia, which caused serious concern among the government and appeared in the Western media. It was immediately followed by Boris Abraham Berezovksy’s statement that he has people in the Kremlin and finances them for preparing a coup.
They say two fears make one death. Meanwhile, the two fears of the Kremlin were yet preceded by another fear, the decision of the U.S. Congress to finance control over the Russian parliamentary election. It is almost unprecedented, and attention-grabbing that despite considering the Armenian election so important, the U.S. government did not make such a decision in connection to our process. The well-known 6.5 million dollars foreseen for a fair process has another meaning. It is money for seminars and donations and not control. In other words, America has caught the fish by the head. And the swinging of the tail can be but temporary.
