POLICE HAD BETTER PROTECT INSTEAD OF TEACHING PEOPLE
The head of the Police Department of Passports and Visa Alvina Zakaryan stated April 9 they have heard about cases of collection of passports of voters under threat. Alvina Zakaryan said she has heard, for instance, that they take the passport in return for a few thousands of drams of election bribes.
“It is difficult for me to understand a person who gives his passport to someone else in return for five thousand drams. For they can commit other things with his passport, which may lead to bad consequences,” says Alvina Zakaryan.
She is right but not fully. First, they take the passports from people not only in return for election bribes but also under threat to fire. For instance, in one of the markets the owner of a stand was told to bring at least 10 numbers of passports threatening to evict him. When people inform us, they ask not to mention their names, for they will deny saying this later, because they are afraid of losing their jobs. But if the Police use their network of district policemen like they do to gather information about a person, they will easily reveal cases of collecting voters’ passports under threat.
