SAMVEL BABAYAN’S DOCUMENTS ON RESIDENCE WERE INCORRECT
Felix Khachatryan, the representative of the People’s Party of Armenia to the Central Electoral Commission, stated during the meeting of the CEC on April 4 that according to the document that Samvel Babayan had submitted he is a citizen of Armenia but has been living in Armenia since 2006. Meanwhile, according to the Constitution of Armenia, a candidate to parliament should have been living in Armenia for the past 5 years. According to Felix Khachatryan, only Samvel Babayan’s documents on residence are incorrect, and it is a trap. As soon as Samvel Babayan criticizes the government, his registration will be declared invalid. Felix Khachatryan proposed to give Samvel Babayan 48 hours provided by the law to bring a new document. Only the People’s Party of Armenia and the Orinats Yerkir Party were for this proposal. It is surprising that the representative of the National Solidarity was against renewing the documents of Samvel Babayan. This is the same National Solidarity Party which had received a lot of money from Samvel Babayan.
Hamlet Abrahamyan, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, said to the reporters after the meeting of the CEC: “If Samvel Babayan submits a document that he is a citizen of Armenia and used to live beside St. Cross Church of Van, I would vote for him.”
