DEBATES ON KARABAKH PROBLEM STARTED IN THE NKR

Public organization “The International Centre for Human Development”, functioning in the Republic of Armenia organized a round table on “The Possible scenario of the Karabakh conflict settlement” in Stepanakert. NKR Deputy Foreign Minister Masis Mayilian, Mayor of Stepanakert Eduard Aghabekian, representatives of non-governmental sector and the republic’s community participated in the debates.
According to the organization’s executive director Tevan Poghosian, the aim of the arrangement is to determine the opinions of people of Nagorno Karabakh concerning all the possible scenario of the Karabakh problem solution. The participants of the debates made more than 217 proposals.

“I see the purport of the arrangement in the attempt of involving the community in the discussion of such urgent problems as the status of Nagorno Karabakh and the future of the NKR on the whole. You know that for the last years the community has stood aside from the negotiations, consultations and meetings at different levels. In this regard this event сan be assessed very positively. I think that the official authorities must always be guided by the opinion of the people and the position of the community. There are many interesting ideas which should be taken into account by the official authorities in the course of their further work”, said NKR Deputy Foreign Minister Masis Mayilian.
It is envisaged to conduct similar debates in the regional centers of Martouni and Martakert these days.
