THE POTATO IS A USEFUL CROP

Potatoes are becoming one of the cornerstones of the Armenian political sphere. This conclusion is based on the fact that the leader of the United Labor Party has studied the history of the potato. And Gurgen Arsenyan is one of the few Armenian figures who would not waste time and money on worthless things and calculates every step. Considering the value of Gurgen Arsenyan’s political mindset, the news reporters inquired during the news conference on January 16 what he thinks about the prospects of a “potato revolution” in Armenia, which was given a pessimistic evaluation by Galust Sahakyan.
It turned out that there is no great difference between the thinking of Arsenyan and Sahakyan. Simply Galust Sahakyan excluded the revolution by intuition, whereas Galust Sahakyan relies on his knowledge of history.
“There is an implication of a so-called potato revolution or the potato factor in erecting the statue to the famous pirate Drake, who is known to the history for bringing the potato to Europe and saving people from hunger,” Gurgen Arsenyan says. He does not remember the exact date of this event, but he remembers the details of the event perfectly. “There is a famous monument to Drake, and the inscription on it expresses the gratitude of mankind to Drake,” says Gurgen Arsenyan. According to him, the potato is a very useful crop.
