WHY DO YOU ASK THE PRIME MINISTER? ASK MR. MARGARYAN
- On the third day of the autumn session of the National Assembly Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan and his ministers came to the parliament to take part in the parliament – government inquiries. Afterwards the prime minister answered the questions of news reporters.
Mr. Prime Minister, what is your opinion on the evaluations that the criminal is dominating over the Republican Party?
Andranik Margaryan: In my opinion, the Republican Party has never accepted members who have just come out of prison or remand prison. These are people who have always been on the political stage. If they were not members of the Republican Party, they have always supported the Republican Party. Naturally, I think, this is black PR, especially considering the circumstance that after our conference the political forces started thinking about this phenomenon, the political criminal, that the political forces are criminalized without specifying what they mean, what problems occurred. Before that they knew these people, there was no such problem. I do not mean the Republican Party only. Generally, some kind of persecution is carried out against political forces by those figures and political forces which are not established and I do not even hope that they will become established in the future.
Garnik Margaryan is likely to publish facts on the members of the Council of the Republican Party and executive officers, whose life and activity is criminal. They promised to publish these facts until September 15. What is your opinion?
Andranik Margaryan: Let them promise. What do you want? You want me to ask Mr. Margaryan to hurry up? Why are you asking me? Ask him why he does not publish. If he publishes, we will see what details he has and about who. The facts, in my opinion, if he possesses facts and did not submit them to the Office of the Attorney General, it means he concealed the crime, and he is also accountable.
Mr. Prime Minister, almost all the political forces, namely your coalition partner ARF Dashnaktsutyun condemned the violence in the republic, especially against the mass media. Besides, we would like to know your personal opinion, whether you agree with the chair of the Council of the Republican Party that journalists are wretched?
Andranik Margaryan: Do not distort. He did not say journalists are wretched because I heard the interview. He spoke about wretched people, and there are wretched people in every sphere.
In other words, Hovanes Galajyan is wretched?
Andranik Margaryan: It does not refer to Hovanes Galajyan either. You needn’t interpret everything the way you want. Of course, I condemn these phenomena, and this is not the first time the representatives of the Republican Party say this or I say. Do you think the Republican Party is for violence against anyone, let alone the representatives of the mass media. Naturally, everything happens, and we condemn, and we do not want this to repeat, we do not want this to repeat, the media should be united, defend its interest, of course, the government is beside you.
Your partner in the coalition ARF Dashnaktsutyun made a statement yesterday, I meant this statement…
Andranik Margaryan: Look, if you think that the Republican Party should repeat whatever anyone does in this country, you are mistaken.
The Republican decided when it will do, how, and we do not necessarily have to repeat what the others do. It is something else when others want to repeat our actions, I am willing, I will even commend it.
Mr. Prime Minister, the leader of Nor Zhamanakner Party Aram Karapetyan indirectly accuses some ministers. What is your opinion and what would you say as a political figure?
Andranik Margaryan: I have nothing to say. I do not have to respond to every political figure and defend myself. Everyone has their approaches, and express their opinoin. This is their constitutional right to express their thoughts. I do not have to reply.
But accusations are made against ministers.
Andranik Margaryan: Accusations, I repeat, if they have accusations, they must be grounded. If they can, they must give names and make clear accusations, why they accuse. Otherwise, they can accuse entire Armenia.
