FAREWELL TO GEORGIA

Beginning August 2009, Georgia will no longer be a CIS member state.
“A technical decision has been made on terminating Georgia’s membership in the Commonwealth of the Independent States in accordance with the notification submitted by the country,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced yesterday. He also mentioned that another decision has been made on withdrawing the collective peacekeeping forces from Abkhazia.
