EMIGRATION OF ARMENIANS DECREASES

According to the UN data, among the individuals seeking shelter abroad there were also 3925 citizens of Armenia, based on the records of last year. While on the global level the number of such citizens has increased by 10 percent in comparison with 2006, the situation with our country is just the contrary: the number of the citizens seeking shelter abroad has decreased by 6 percent.

Do they understand the real meaning? arrogantly they will say if you like your armenia that much....why not exchange our places.do you have a good adjectif.. for these people.

The people there have the 'neo-hollywood' assumption of life in USA. But when they come here they are all shocked. They don't realize life here, that in the particular city where I live, if I callin to work 3 times, ill get fired...that if im late to work ill get written up. The people in Armenia a society thats still functioning as a socialist country when looking at labor, can't understand the market-fundamentalism that is going on in the US. However there are reasons that the US might be favorable, for example business. There if your a law-abiding man, who lacks connections...you must pay off the police, the fire department (yes!), the equivalent to city hall, the criminal of that area, etc. Though the US has a progressive taxation system is by no means is comparable to Armenia's hierearchy of bribary. And if one can argue that's 'its a norm in Armenia and that the notion of bribary is the effect of communism' then it is worth looking at how much deadweight loss is be accumulated because of bribary
