- “Robert Kocharyan’s farewell was a real precedent of the political culture, he left as a political knight. During the political period that we have faced, knighthood made up a small element and suddenly he was the one to create a precedent of a political knighthood.
We have grown up and lived in a country where the former one was either murdered or annihilated and immediately forgotten. We must little by little become accustomed to this situation. There is a simple truth: when you don’t appreciate the former one you will never appreciate the present one. It is safe to argue that RK was a total failure as a president. Though one can argue that under his administration, Armenia saw record GDP growth, the growth (1) today is actual equal to what it was in the late 1980's (2) the majority of growth comes from the Diaspora and its investments. RK and his administration have failed to reconstruct Armenia, and instead leased out the Zvartnots Airport to Eurnekian, the Cascade to Cafesjian, etc. Altough both have made tremendous improvements, especially the new Zvartnots Airport. SS is fully aware of the short-comings of the RK era, and he has stated that things will change once he is in charge.
One final note, For those of you who think Tigran Sarkisian is with the Republicans, you are wrong he is infact non-partisan...he has many friends in LTP's circle, I can personally justify this information
