Mirhan I am sorry to say that you are very naive to even think that this brutal dictator will reveal details as you say of the slaughter in the parliament of Armenia. My dear friend rk's past performance is NO GUARANTY for his present and for his future performance. This regime is so corrupted so criminal so authoritarian that it is far fetched to expect from them anything positive for the country and its PEOPLE. The only positive act they can do is to RELIEVE THE COUNTRY AND ITS PEOPLE FROM THEIR IRON FEAST RULE AND FROM THEIR PRESENCE. They should not be pardoned for their brutal crimes, they should be given a fair trial and should be held accountable for all they have done (murders, robbery inclusive) against ARMENIA AND ITS PEOPLE.

I will aagree with Philip. Though I utterly respect Mihran's comments, I think his lack for realism in Armenian politics is negating proper judgement of the Armenian political Arena. Mr. Kocharyan's presidency has been a total failure from the point of democracy and the notion of opennness. His only positive implementation was a coalition with the Dashnak party, which allowed greater integration of the Diaspora with their homeland. I've been told by couple of top military personal that SS is different and indeed will change Armenia. I hope they are right. However, SS is off to a terrible unofficial start (he has 3 days until its official) by implementing the arrests of average citizens. This is angering the domestic crowd in Yerevan, and furthering the citizens' hatred for the upcoming administration

IF RK DOES'NT RESPECT HIS OWN STATEMENTS,I WILL CHANGE MY MIND AND TRUST THAT YOUR OWN VERSIONS ARE CORRECT.WILL WAIT COUPLE OF MONTHS. TO GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO RELAX MAY BE HE WILL PUBLISH HIS OWN MEMOIRES. BASICALLY WHITE THOUGHTS TELLS ME THAT A PRESIDENT OF A COUNTRY IS NOT A (THIIEF) OR A CRIMINAL IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF ARMENIA YOURSELF AS AN HONEST PERSON I AM CERTAIN THAT YOU WILL CARE FOR YOUR OWN REPUTATION FIRST AND FORMOST HOWEVER,(SAME GOES FOR LTB) YOU MAY BE BETRAYED BY YOUR SEROUNDINGS TO YOUR OWN DISMAY.THIS IS MY OWN UNDERSTANDING UNTILL POROVEN OTHERWISE THE BENEFIT OF DOUBT.

    Mihran,
I would like to think too the RK is not a thief or a criminal but when such instances occur (in 2005 or 6(?) I went to Armenia with my family and friends, in zvartnots we were asked questions by the customs: Are you bringing any cellphones with you, we answered yes, they demanded to see them. Knowing somewhat of Armenian customs rules I said, that there is no written statement preventing the transportation of cell phones. The officials still demanded to see them, so we showed them. When they realized we had only 3 cell phones (personal use) they said ok. My father engaged with them a conversation as to why we can't bring bundlles of cell phones, we were then indirectly told that Kocharyan's son (Sedrak) runs the cell phone destribution in Armenia.) These are the kinds of variables that come to my mind when the name RK is mentioned.

I ALSO VISITED ARMENIA SEVERAL TIMES WITH MY FAMILLY UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE GATHERED ALMOST THE SAME INFORMATION.LTB'S SON OWNES THE VIATRANS HOTEL WRIGHT BEHIND YEREVAN HOTEL. I GUESS THIS SEEMS TO BE NORMAL FOR THE EX.SOVIET BLOCK COUNTRIES.SHOULD WE ACCEPT? WHAT IS OUR CHOICE. CA'NT DO ANYTHING . EVEN IF WE CRITIZE.HOPFULLY ONE DAY THE RICHES WILL HAVE ENOUGH WEALTH ACCUYMULATED FOR THEMSELVES AND START THINKING TO IMPLEMENT A DEMOCRATIC CAPITALIST SYSYTEM . THE WESTERN CICVILISATIONS CENTURIES AGO WALKKED ALONG THE SAME PATHWAY.
THE REAL ISSUE WITH LTB IS HIS UNDERSTANING OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE AND KARAPAGH ISSUES AND THE WAYS TO ADDRESS THEM. HE GOT SLAMMED ONCE BY TURKEY AND HE CONTUNUES TO BELIEVE IN SOLVING THEM ON THE SAME (DEFEATIST)PRINCIPALS.RK OR SS ON THE OTHER HAND REFUSE TO GIVE IN TO THE TURKISH YOKS AND ARE DEFENDING JUSTICE ON A PARITY BASSIS .
THE QUESTION I HAVE AT THE END OF THE DAY WILL ARMENIANS BE UNITED IN THIS HISTORICAL STRUGGLE OF EXSISITANCE .

In 2003, I was discussing the Armenian economy with my economic professors, and one of them mentioned the following: Todays criminals are tomorrows businessmen. He suggested that these criminals would seak official power (in forms of assemblyman, minister, etc) and create laws to establish a law-abiding country so that the other citizen can not obtain power and make that the first guy riches away from him. This has always been in the back on my mind. Armenia's future is not in the hands of a placist (teghatsi) as they are too corrupt, but someone like R. Hovhannisyan is viewed as too weak to fight the crooks. All I know is this..the mentality shared by LTP, RK and now maybe SS is screw the country, steal money, make people leave the country so they can send money back to their relatives. Today we have a landlocked country with almost no production growing at a 9% gdp market-based rate in the last 5 years. This is a economoic paradox, a country like armenia should be in the same situation as Mynmmar (maybe im overexagerating). The 9% growth is due to the Diaspora, we fund the Armenian economy to the teeth, and what do we get in return? 1. inflated prices 2. unmarket-like controlling of the Dram currency 3. and a douche-bag former justic minister named Davit Harutunian who says the Diaspora help to Armenia is minimal.
As a economist who visits Armenia annually, economic conditions there just don't make sense, especially the Dram.

I consider myself maybe 30% Armenian because I lived in the US for 16 years (8 years in Armenia). My child will be say 20% Armenian as he will be overwhelming influenced by US (unless I move back) and so on. My point is this: If our administration thinks they can continue this trickery for a considerable amount of time they are mistaken. Right now Armenia is experiencing capital, tourist inflows at its height. As time goes on expected growth < actual growth, and thats when things will get bad. Here's the equation If I come there once every year, my son might not even consider going there, and my grandson will probably never set foot in Armenia. The domestic people must realize this the Diasporeans going back there as tourists are only a fraction of total Armenians, and that number will continue to decrease.

I RESPECT YOUR POINT OF VIEWS.BUT IT SADDENS ME PARTICULARLY SOME POINTS ARE VERY REAL.MY ONLY HOPE IS THAT EVENTUALLY A CLEAN ARMENIAN SPIRIT WILL COME TO DOMINATE CLEANSING THIS STUPIDITY. IN THE MEANTIME, WE DIASPORAN'S NEED NOT TO STOP TOURISM THE (DEGHATSIES)NEED OUR DOLLARS IT DIECTLY CONTRIBUTES TO THEIR WELLBEING.
