This just shows how backward and ignorant Heghine Bisharian is.
Press is FREE to write what they want. The shareholders of a newspaper do NOT have the right to impose content. Editorial is free to decide.
Of course, in a backward dictatrial country like Armenia this is not the case and Heghine does not understand that. Newspapers are not voices of their shareholders or political patrons. They are 'free'.
I hope this lesson helps Heghine move a small step forward from the 18h century to the 21st.

are we talking about the same artur baghdasaryan that betrayed his supporters? Here's a interetsing story: Serge sarkisian urges arturik to resign as speaker, and tells arturik to put his name on the presidential ballot as a opposition candidate to steal votes from LTP. And if arturik does this successfully he gets a seat in the new gov't. So arturik went and campaigned as a real oppositional force got from my recollection 17% of the vote (which would have otherwise gone to LTP) and then abandoned his ideas and joined serge.

Rafael, You're giving too much of credit to Serjik. This is a bit exagerated. Maybe he's planning to do the same thing with Vahan for the next time around? Come on.

No offense, but i just don't get it, once people are on the streets because there is no freedom of speech, then all of a sudden, the press is free? Be objective. It is common thing universally, newspapers reflect their own politics, point.

Nova...unless you can provide me some insider info about your point i see no reason to argue with you. My opinions here do not come from my head, they are the info i get from Armenia, from inside Levon's party, from members of the Constitutional court, etc. Ofcourse these points are bias, but i present this info on this website and let the readers judge.Once again These points are not from average Armenian citizens.

let me provide you with more info...from the civilians that were killed on march 1, here's how two of them were killed: One was hit by a sniper while he tried to throw a flaming gas canister at police, the other was also killed by a sniper when he tried to take a 'minibus' from a regular bus driver at gun point. Believe this or not, this is what I was told from a ranking member of the Armenian military

by the way nova before you dismiss the Vahan and serge link, buy a ticket to armenia, and ask anybody in erevan and they will simply say that serge and vahan are related through the marriage of their relatives.

    Nova, no offence taken,
Just check out how the BBC works, and you will see what 'independece' of press means and what I meant by how things are supposed to be.

"From a ranking member of the Armenian military", that's enough to discredit all that follows or precceds

That is my point exactly Rafael, your info is biased, do not present it as it is the absolute truth. I agree that there is no point from arguing with you when you present unisourced info, mere ficitonal american political movie like facts. Do you have your own understanding of the events? Present it, then we think about presenting proofs.
If Serjik is really that evil and wise to prepare such a brilliant way to steal votes from LTP through AP, then we should all just shut up and accept him as the strongest political man. Don't you agree?
That is in no way my own opinion, i'm just basing it on info you are providing, that's why i said, you are giving too much of credits to someone who merely speaks Armenian, Serjik.
Concerning to Vahan, i just can't beleive that a person like you, most probably educated in U.S.A gives any importance to such a reality. These were tactics that were followed by kingdoms in the
the 12th century, wake up, we are in the 21st century. So Vahan sold his daughter to share power with Serjik? IS that what you are trying to say? If it is so, i would tell you this, no Armenian could be that low and shame on us to present each other in that ugly, inhumain way.

Arguably, BBC is one of the few real news press. But if you read your comment, you will see that you presented the Armenian press just like the BBC, which is illusion. There is no free or unbiased press in Armenia. Maybe you made a mistake in your comment or i got it wrong. If i got it wrong, i apologise.

first, Vahan didnt sell his daughter...if you've been in Armenia recently or actually lived there you would see a trend of the so-called elite marrying each other for political or social benefits, I can personally argue that. Second I will give sergik the benefit of being very intelligent, because he knows that if was to ever loosse the presidency and LTP would win, all his goons (muk, gago, lfik, etc) including his brother would be on trial in an instant.

In order for people like that to understand Armenian politics, they must live in Armenia, in that condition, and than they will sing a different tune.

Rafael, been there, done that. But here is what i have to say, as long as there are people still using those words, Chuxan, axpars, like you, no diasprean will wish to stay there more than a day, and if someone does, will never repeat it again. Most of those axpars who go there and spend their savings, they are supporting our economy, and what people like you do? Well, Chuxan, axpars, words of thanks.
Oughagi zarmanoumem, inchkanek douk cez geradasoum amenkic.
Now i'm certainly singing a different tune.

Just to clarify myself: When I say "free", I obviously am not refering to the press in Armenia. The press in Armenia is a State-run press used for State propaganda like in all totalitarian societies.

Nova let me guess you went there twice maybe 4 times (i doubt more, but i could be wrong) went to cafes and restaurants, gave some poor old lady money and that summed up your trip. (If im mistaken im sorry, as most 'spurks' do that exact routine) And you say you've done that great...I agree with you that non-hayastantsi's shouldn't visit hayastan unless they want to move back. why? well the local ignorant people somehow think that this money flow and assistence from the diaspora is limitless in time. They don't understand that the more generation passes through a spyurk the less likely it is of that spyurks siblings will visit. Now what have I done, you ask? I don't like to elavate myself, so I wont say what I've done...but you may contact Mission Armenia NGO and ask about a American student named Rafael, and they'll be more than happy to tell you, or you can contact Araik Harutuinian who is in charge of Armenian Refugees in Armenia. Sadly my continuous benevolence went unappreciated last year.
