“ Still before the elections Armenian Aid Union was the first to unite the women of all the other Social Organizations, calling for solidarity, restraint and tolerance. Unfortunately this call didn’t get a worthy response and at the moment we have what we have.”
“Sose” women’s Social Organization was the only one to unite with us. 100 people - from 2000 and all the others were members from the Armenian Aid Union and the wives of the deceased freedom fighters. Unfortunately there was no response to our appeal. Though many of them used to state that the situation was extremely dangerous. It is really regretful that from thousands of Social Organizations no one responded to our call for unification. This means they are good for nothing. They simply take grants and hold different conferences and they are always silent in times of difficulties. Our main slogan was “Stop Brothers!” It was full of morality. At the moment we still say “Stop Brothers!” In my view those who sinned against the country must return an answer in front of the law. In my view besides moral and legal responsibility each of us must answer one question – why did it happen?
Frankly, at the moment I’m speaking from the humanistic point of view, but in reality I believe there are some people who must be strictly punished. I also understand that at the moment it is wrong to think that way. I know that we shouldn’t create more tension and consciously I restrain my revenge. We must manifest tolerance, but in the meantime everyone must be equal in front of the law.
Serge Sargsyan announced and I want to believe that he will firstly be the President of those 350 thousand. If he becomes their President he will be my President. You can’t be the President of only one part of the people.”
“You underscored with regret that from various Social Organizations only one responded to your call for tolerance and solidarity, but what about the intellectuals who are silent at the moment. They should have appeared with the opinion of the spheres they represent, in this tough situation for the country.”
“By the way I read the article in your newspaper regarding the intellectuals. Because I consider myself a friend of your newspaper, I would like to ask you what do you mean by saying intellectual. Who said that the chairman of a creative union is considered an intellectual? Absolutely not! To be an intellectual is quite a different thing. And if you are a chairman of a creative union it doesn’t mean that you are an intellectual. Maybe you are simply a cunning person. Today we shouldn’t separate people between good and bad. And I don’t think that they are frightened, they are anxious, because of lack of information.
Recently, very often, I get invitations to give interviews in different TV stations, as a more informed person. I have never been this much patient. Do you know what telephone calls I get every day? Of course I have appealed to the police, but the problem is not that I fear something. But I understood that I have become more tolerant than I used to be. There are certain people in our reality who never listen to what you say they have already sorted you.
This before planned enmity is a terrible thing. It is really terrible to look for enemies in your own nation. And I think L. Ter-Petrosyan must return an answer for all this. I asked one of my friends who is a serious political figure: “Do you think they will arrest Levon?” and he said: “You feel sorry for him?” I said: “No.” But the problem is our people adore martyrs and I wouldn’t like him to feel this pleasure. He must sit and watch how this country triumphs and this will be the worst punishment for him.
I’m very concerned about Levon Ter-Petrosyan, when I saw how they were dancing the traditional Jewish dance under the six-wing flag with a star; in our Azatutyun (freedom) Square I was really frightened. We deal with wild fanatics. Their abnormal devotion and fanaticism towards Levon is a sickness brought by Armenian Pan National Movement. By the way those who call me are women.”
