PRELIMINARY RESULTS SUMMED UP
- Yesterday, at midday, Chairman of the Central Electoral Committee Garegin Azaryan, based on the first requirement of the Electoral Code, introduced the first official report of the preliminary results of the Presidential elections in the Republic of Armenia.
Thus, 1.670.656 voters participated in February 19 elections. 2.390.000 voting lists have been given to 1923 precinct committees, with 1-2.390.000 knob numbers. 720.254 voting lists have been canceled, 34,849 – considered invalid.
The votes for the 9 candidates have been distributed by the following proportion.
Arthur Baghdasaryan 272.256 or 16,666%
Artashes Geghamyam 7473 or 0, 46%
Tigran Karapetyan 9754 or 0,6%
Aram Harutyuntyan 3.092 or 0,19%
Vahan Hovhannisyan 100.876 or 6,12%
Vazgen Manukyan 20.939 or 1,28%
Arman Melikyan 4.359 or 0,27%
Serge Sargsyan 863.544 or 52,86%
Levon Ter-Petrosyan 351, 306 or 21,5%
CEC Chairman Garegin Azaryan added that 6 from the 8 members of the Committee have already signed under the report of the preliminary results of the presidential elections.
Two of them, the representatives of “Heritage” and “Orinats Yerkir” parliamentary factions didn’t participate during the session of the Committee. The representative of ARF Dashnaktsutyun party in the CEC Hamlet Abrahamyan has attached a special opinion to the CEC report.
On February 26, seven days after the elections, according to the requirement of the Electoral Code CEC will summarize the results of the elections and come to a final decision concerning the election of the President of the Republic of Armenia.
