DASHNAKTSOUTYUN RELIES ON THE PEOPLE

With the purpose of summing up the course of the campaign and estimating the internal political developments in the context of the presidential elections, HRANT MARGARYAN, representative of the ARFD Bureau, convened a press conference yesterday.

THE SECOND STAGE IS NECESSARY

Analyzing the current situation, the representative of the ARFD Bureau has arrived at the following clear-cut thought. “I find that the second stage is necessary and in this respect, we already think about the second stage and are preparing for it.”
Touching upon the scenarios possible in the near future, he expressed his concern, “There’s some concern that the developments may pursue a different course. I don’t consider the clashes and confrontations improbable. Their prevention is conditioned by fair elections.”
However, H. Margaryan says that although this is an important part of the issue, it does not present the whole problem. “Sometimes I meet people who have a stout neck and a little bit stout arms and believe that they can keep the whole atmosphere in fear by using threats, subject everybody to themselves through by using threats and impose a certain posture upon them.
Conducting a policy based on threats is a behavior characteristic of the criminal world which has penetrated into our political life.” And the most characteristic expression of the present-day swaggering (developed by LTP and his co-thinkers, - A. E.) is the following, “If you are not with me, you are a thief and a corrupt figure.”

WE WILL NOT BE WITH YOU; WE’LL BE AGAINST YOU

Touching upon the policy of threats adopted by L. Ter-Petrosyan, H. Margaryan mentioned, “They were in a fallen state for 10 years, and we didn’t beat them; we spared them. Even though it seemed improbable to everybody, we received him in our office so as he could come and somehow repent of what he had done. We also hoped that we were marking a new, civilized beginning. However, so many thousands of people have gathered around him; there is the same posture, the same threats. He uses the word ‘traitor’, obliging us to assume the opposite posture.”
“We do not hold the same views with regard to the Karabakh issue. Nether do we share the same opinion with regard to reducing the Army. And we speak about these issues while he speaks about ‘Dro’,” H. Margaryan noted. L. Ter-Petrosyan’s posture reminds about a story well-known among the shepherds, “When the goat has an itch on the back, it comes and rubs its ass on the drover’s stick.”
Guiding himself by the mentality “the one who is not with us is against us,” L. Ter-Petrosyan accuses all the forces not standing by him of serving the authorities. “If Arthur Baghdasaryan joins him, he is a good man, if not, he is a traitor. If an oligarch is in this camp and does not pay taxes, he is a criminal; if that man is in their camp, he isn’t a criminal. We do not have such approach. Our approaches are not of a double nature; they are fair.”
H. Margaryan considers ARFD to be the victim of the following mentality, “We have suffered from that. They kept us in prison for 4 years by fabricating a case. But for the sake of our motherland, for the sake of national unity, we lent a hand to him; now he has gathered 3 thousand people and tells them obligingly, ‘Be with us!’ We will not with you; we’ll be against you, because your policy course is against Armenia, against the Armenian people, and we will not allow it to revive.
We believe in political struggle. Let our votes increase by several percent in each election. There’s no harm there. We’ll win in a long-term struggle. We will win, but we are not ready to set aside our dignity for the sake of victory.”
