MARCOS FUNDS THE DISOBEDIENT

As a result of the operations-investigative activities of the National Security Service, it was found out that the initiators of the “Civil Disobedience Movement” - former Foreign Alexander Arzoumanyan and former Deputy Defense Minister Vahan Shirkhanyan had reached an agreement with Levin Grigor Marcos in Moscow for the transportation and legalization of certain sums with suspicious origin.
As informed by the Press Center of the National Security Service, L. Marcos was under investigation by a criminal proceeding, instituted by the RA General Prosecutor’s Office. It was established that a sum of 180 thousand dollars was transferred in small portions on the accounts of 9 individuals under the placename “Conversebank”, but the sum was actually envisaged for them.
A criminal proceeding was instituted in connection with the matter, under Section 3, Article 190 of the Criminal Code.
Within the frameworks of the criminal proceeding, large of sums in the form of currency were discovered in the apartments of the above-mentioned individuals during the house-search conducted on May 5.
During the interrogation, Mr. A. Arzoumanyan refused to give evidence as to the origins and use of the sum of 55 thousand 400 dollars discovered and confiscated as a result the search.
