ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, SYLVESTER STALLONE AND BRUCE WILLIS REUNITE IN HOLLYWOOD ACTION FILM
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis are to star together in a new blockbuster Hollywood action film called The Expendables.
The film, which is scheduled for release next summer, will see Stallone lead a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator.
The film will see the three actors brought together for the first time since 1991, when they attended openings of their ill-fated restaurant venture, Planet Hollywood.
Speaking at the Venice film festival, Stallone said: "I wanted to do a film that was more about men, just doing things that we did back in the 80s and 90s with films that were a little bit more men on men."
He added that his ambition was "to find certain personalities that never would ever work together normally and put them all together".
"It's like a dream team," he said.
"Arnold, Bruce and I will be working together for the first time, maybe in two weeks, so I had to grow back my beard and get ready to film it in Los Angeles," he said at the festival where he is receiving a special award.
"It's very difficult to get us all together at the same time. It's impossible to get all those egos in the same room."
Schwarzenegger has since confirmed that he will be making a cameo appearance in The Expendables. In an interview with a fan website, he described the scene as poking fun at his and Stallone's speech.
He said: "I walk out of a hotel or out of an office building and [Stallone] will walk up and we will bump into each other and there will be some mumbling and then we will walk off."
As well as Schwarzenegger and Willis Stallone has also brought on board Mickey Rourke, following his success in The Wrestler, for which he was Oscar nominated.
Stallone has also recruited the Ultimate Fighting Championship star Randy Couture and the Chinese martial artist Jet Li for the new film, it has been reported.
