NATO TRAININGS IN ARMENIA
A three-day main planning conference on "Joint Arrow, Joint Henchman and Brave Trot 2008" exercises started today in Yerevan.
Major-General Arshaluys Paytyan , Deputy Head of RA Armed Forces' General Headquarters, and Brigadier General Claudio Verchelotti, deputy Head of the ground posture command headquarters, welcomed the conference participants. About 100 servicemen take part in the conference. 37 of them are from different subdivisions of NATO Command, and the orther 63, representativbe of 21 NATO member-states, have already expressed their desire to participate in the exercises.
Seven NATO countries (USA, Poland, Lithuania, Canada, Greece, Hungary and Great Britain) have sent their officers to Armenia. A plan of drillings will be developed at the conference, legal issues and programmes will be coordinated and the personnel lists will be replenished. The drillings, with participation of about 800 officers, ensigns and sergeants will contribute the enhancement of the personnel skills of the peacekeeping forces.
