This is such a stupid article, and it's so blatantly anti-Turkish. All Harut Sassounian can do to back up why Turkey shouldn't be given a seat on the United Nations Security Council is to use non-existent human rights violations as an excuse.
If Turkey is such a big human rights violator, then tell me, Sassounian, what exactly are these human rights violations? And if they really do exist, then what on earth have they even got to do with Turkey being a member of the UN Security Council? Turkey has one of the largest, most technologically advanced armies in the entire world (certainly much better than those of Austria or Iceland), and it would be very silly not to let Turkey have a seat.
And what about vote-buying efforts? Please, as if Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama aren't doing that now! What a pathetic way to criticize a country!
Finally, the reason why Turkey hasn't signed the Kyoto Protocol is because of the fact that the Kyoto Protocol isn't economically viable in Turkey. Just because a country doesn't sign the Kyoto Protocol, that doesn't mean that they can't be committed to stopping climate change.
In conclusion, this article is merely another pathetic, anti-Turkish and racist ("Austria and Iceland...which are far ahead of Turkey in every respect!") attempt to blacken Turkey's image (as per usual) by some cranky Armenian man who seems to be stuck in the past.
