PACE CHAIRMAN TO VISIT ARMENIA
Before opening of spring session PACE Chairman Luis Maria de Puig first presented the agenda mentioning that issues connected with Armenia will be discussed the same day, and on Thursday, they will discuss issues of functioning of democratic institutions in Armenia.
PACE will hear also the report on presidential elections in Armenia. Luis Maria de Puig expressed concern over violations of democratic standards in Armenia.
PACE will discuss the report of John Presscott.
PACE Chairman informed that some of the proposals of Presscott were adopted by Armenia and the Armenian authorities expressed their orientation towards European Council and readiness to fulfill their obligations.
In answer to an Azerbaijani journalist's question how can the PACE cooperate with Armenia being in similar situation, PACE Chairman answered, "Armenians want to be full-fledged member of European Council and PACE will support them as it does with other countries.
Luis Maria de Puig is going to visit Armenia after this week's session.
