TURKISH WRITER PRETENDING FOR AWARD IN ENGLAND AND PUNISHMENT IN TURKEY
Turkish writer Elif Safag is nominated for the "Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction" for his novel entitled "The Illegitimate Children of Istanbul". In Turkish interpretation the name of the book sounds like "The Father and His Illegitimate Son". For having referred to the Armenian-Turkish relationships, trying to find out their roots and making evident statements on the Armenian Genocide of 1915, a criminal case was roused against the writer, in accordance to law 301 of the Penal Code of Turkey.
