BAD AUTHORITIES ARE ELECTED BY THE GOOD CITIZENS, WHO DON'T PARTICIPATE IN ELECTIONS
"It was twenty years ago that we were united at this square. We were a nation that was united and understood its common interest then.
Twenty years passed, we are again here but the country is different. We lived under illusions. And the price of the illusions is bitter reality", said ARF presidential candidate Vahan Hovhannisian at the Freedom Square, on February 8.
According to him, the Armenian nation lives in two different worlds. On the surface our country seems to develop, in reality it is not.
The gap between these two worlds is getting deeper. And the reason was that the people didn't understand that independence does not bring justice mechanically.
"The worst is the semi-literate person; you can teach the illiterate one, but not the semi-literal, as he/she is confident that he/she knows everything. The semi-literates drew the way of our country; they lied to everybody that market relations would regulate everything and the state has nothing to do in those relations. But instead of the state came the bureaucrats that created monopolies".
According to Vahan Hovhannisian, nowadays system can be destroyed only by those who didn't stand at the roots of that system and then didn't accrete in it.
What about Nagorno Karabakh issue settlement, Vahan Hovhannisian presented his program terms, "Dashnaktsutyun is tightly connected with Nagorno Karabakh. One from eight ARF members fell a victim to Karabakh war. It is not only a political question for us. After victory I will make the Azerbaijanis to sign a disarmament pact. We are not afraid of it; we'll sign it if Azerbaijan agrees. Only after having mutual confidence the sides will be obliged for not using power during settlement of any problem. Only after this Armenia can start the discussions. It's the demand of Helsinki Accord, the basic document, on what OSCE is created. Armenia and Azerbaijan both are the members of this organization, and Azerbaijan cannot reject the proposal; it is also the demand of Minsk Group Co-chairs".
At the end Vahan Hovahnnisian said, "Bad authorities are elected by the good citizens, who don't participate in elections.
Dear citizens, participate in the elections, mobilize all your opportunities".

The document sought the recognition of Armenia's Independent Statehood, compensation for Armenian losses reimbursement, a 20-year mandate for Armenia by one of the Allied countries, and punishment of the perpetrators of the Armenian Genocide. No attention was paid to the document.

- 1988 Party and Economic meetings took place in the Autonomous Region of Mountainous Gharabagh. These demanded the reunification of Artsakh to Armenia.
- 1988 First national mass demonstrations in Stepanakert in favor of Union between Armenia and Artsakh.
