EUROPEAN COMMISSION OFFICE IN YEREVAN
On February 5, European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner together with Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian opened the new premises of European Commission Delegation where the full-fledged EC Delegation will promote its activities.
As Mrs. Ferrero-Waldner and Mr. Oskanian mentioned in their speeches, the opening of full-fledged EC delegation is a good opportunity to have closer cooperation with European Union. The cooperation became closer from 2006 with the adoption of European Neighborhood Policy project by Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
According to it, the project grants Azerbaijan 92 mln Euros, Armenia - 98,4 mln and Georgia - 120 mln.

- 1676 Birth of Mkhitar Sebastatsi (cultural and church figure). He founded the Roman Catholoc Mkhitarist Congregation. He died in 1749.
- 1861 Birth in Vagharshapat (Etshmiadsin) of publisher and author of dictionaries, Tigran Navasardian.
- 1887 Birth of Civil War hero and famous Commander Hayk Bjshkyants (Guy) in Tavriz (Iran). In December 1937 he was killed -- a victim of Stalin's terror.

- 1925 Opening of the Land-owners' First National Conference in Yerevan.
- 1950 Death of painter Sargis Yerkanian in St Louis (USA).
