YEREVAN AND NICE - SISTER TOWNS
On September 20, the Mayor of Yerevan Ervand Zakharian and the Mayor of Nice (France) Jacques Peyrat signed an agreement to proclaim Yerevan and Nice as sister towns.
Attaching great importance to the signing of the agreement, Ervand Zakharian mentioned that the latter would make firmer the Armenian-French relations.
Jacques Peyrat, in his turn, mentioned about the significant influence of the Armenian community of Nice and that many Armenians had settled in Nice after the Armenian Genocide in 1915.

- 1930 The first issue of the Kurdish newspaper "Rya taza" is published in Yerevan.
- 1944 Death of academician Manook Abelyan (armenologist) in Yerevan. He was born in 1865.
- 1946 Opening of the Second Congress of Armenian Writers. The subsequent ones took place in 1954, 1959, and 1966.
- 1963 Opening of the First Congress of Inventors and Rationalists. The next one took place in 1965.
