PASHIKIAN AND HAROUTIUNIAN PERFORM BEST RESULTS AMONG ARMENIAN CHESS PLAYERS
Mikhail Gourevich, representative of Turkey, became the winner of the Istanbul Chess Competition. In the final tour, Gourevich played a draw with Georgi Margvelashvili and gained 8 spots. A group of chess players, including Arman Pashikian and David Haroutiunian (Georgia) lost half a spot to the winner. Pashikian won the game with Valeri Shalimov, Ukraine, while Haroutiunian won the game with Georgia Arzoumanian. Taking into account additional scores, Pashikyan took the eight place, while Haroutiunian was last among the best ten chess players. Having earned 6,5 spots, Georgi Arzoumanian occupied the 25 place in the rating.
The other two chess players from Armenia took seven spots each. David Kalashian won the gam with Alper Ataman, while Levon Baboujian won mery Zhozholiani. Baboujian took the 22nd place, while David Kalashian was in the 16th. Aghasi Inants won Dinker Selen and took the 80th place with 6 spots. 447 chess players participated in the competition.
