"GOLDEN APRICOT" INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL TO OPEN IN YEREVAN ON JUNE 9-14
"The organization of Golden Apricot international film festival gives an opportunity to the Armenian art critics and common art-lovers to watch foreign films that cannot be brought to Armenia in a commercial way. They mainly participate in Cannes and other international film festivals," Harutyun Khachatrian, the chairman and founder of "Golden Apricot" film festival said today at a press conference.
According to him, "Golden Apricot" is not a mere one-week festival. The initiators get prepared for the annual festival for the whole year and apply serious foreign and inner cultural policy.
Mr. Khachatrian said that they have selected such films for the festival that will increase the taste of the Armenian audience.
"Another very important aim of the festival is the presentation of Armenian films among the foreign art critics," Khachatrian said.
In recent four years the Armenian films were presented in Japan, Argentina, Holland, France, Germany etc. A number of film sessions were held in Iran, Georgia, Russia, Tajikistan. Three programs of film presentation were carried out in Turkey.
Golden Apricot fourth international film festival will launch on July 9 with the "Farm of Larks" film by Paolo and Vitorio Tavianis, famous Italian film-directors.
Around 320 initial applications from 53 countries were presented to the festival. The leadership of the festival tried to include new works of distinguished film directors.
