UN INITIATIVES ON KARABAKH IMPEDE THE NEGOTIATION PROCESS
Iniriarives on the peace settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the UN impede the negotiation process between armenia and azerbaijan, "Trend" news agency reports the statement of Yuri Merzliakov, the russian Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group. Discussion of the issue in the UN may make the participation of Karabakh in the talks undesirable, while it is essential for armenia, stressed Merzliakov.
He aslo said that Armenia's only task, by the UN resolution, is to influence Karabakh. Therefore armenian authorities say that in case the karabakh issue is submitted to the UN, azerbaijan will have to negotiate with Karabakh, which will be a disadvantage for Azerbaijan.
