500 THOUSAND YEARS' HISTORY IN THE HIGHLANDS OF ARMENIA
In the exhibition hall of the Saint Raphael Archeology Museum takes place the "500 Thousand Years' History in the Highlands of Armenia" exhibition, which represents the material and spiritual culture from the very beginning of Paleolith to the I-IV centuries A.D. 300 artifacts from about 30 archeological sites of the Armenian Shirak region are gathered in Saint Raphael.
"Armenia is the Lost Paradise, spread at the foot of Mount Ararat, a part of which is demonstrated now in Saint Raphael," said on a press conference before the exhibition's opening Francois de Clairfontaine, French archeologist. During the 2-hour long conference Armenian and French scientists gave detailed information about the history and culture of Armenia and the artifacts exhibited in Saint Raphael. More than 300 people, official scientists and social workers were present to the conference and the concessive opening ceremony.
Director of the Shirak Archeology Museum informed that the exhibition is success and has already had over one thousand visitors. The event was illustrated by the press and the television of France. A 210-page catalogue was published.
The exhibition in Saint-Raphael will last by the end of March 2007 and then move to Rouen town, Normandy.

- 1728 Death of General Davit Bek.
- 1862 Defense of Van against Turkish exactions and terrorism.

- 1936 Death of Alexander Tamanyan (architect) in Yerevan. He was born in 1878.
- 1940 Death of public figure Stepan Yessayan. He was one of the founders of "Pan-National" Cultural Organization of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Party.
- 1988 The Autonomous Region (oblast) of Nagorno Gharabagh applies to the Supreme Soviets of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the USSR to consider and resolve positively the question of handing over Nagorno Karabagh from Soviet Azerbaijan to Soviet Armenia.
- 1988 The Regional Council of Deputies from Artsakh decides to be reintegrated with Armenia.
