INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION ON TOP OF ARARAT
- This September two events will are celebrated, particularly, the 15th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia and the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the American University of Armenia. On the occasion of these two anniversaries, the group of the AUA members and friends, namely chairman Haroutyun Armenian, Sona Armenian, Arsen Grigorian, Artur Melkonian, Vardouhi Petrosian and Ara Tekeyan, initiated an expedition to the top of the Mountain Ararat.
The group began the expedition on August 25 from Doloubayazid. The first camp was at the height of 3200 meters, then the group continued climbing and reached 4200 meters on August 26. Next day, at 6.30 the courageous Armenians conquered the top of Ararat.
The expedition returned on the same day.
"We experienced the sense of individual and collective achievement and celebrated the 15th anniversary in quite a unique way!" Mr. Armenian said.
