NEWLY APPOINTED CHAIRMAN TO VISIT ARMENIA
Natela Hovasapiants, head of PR Department of the Armenian National Olympic Committee (ANOC), informs that at the invitation of head of ANOC Gagik Tsarukian, a delegation of newly appointed chairman of the European Olympic Committee, member of the World Olympic Committee and head of the Irish Olympic Committee, Patrick Hickey, will arrive in Armenia on September 7. This is his first visit as a chairman of the EOC. The delegation includes WOC’s Olympic Solidarity co-coordinator Pamela Vipond and financial CEO of the European Olympic Committee Gianluca de Angeles.
The guests will meet the ANOC’s leadership, members of the executive committee, heads of different sport federations and renowned sportsmen. President Robert Kocharian will receive the delegation too. The aim of the visit is to get familiarized with the Olympic movement in Armenia, with the sports complexes and, of course, the issues facing the ANOC. The guests will visit the new sports complex in Abovian, will visit Sevan and Matenadaran.

- 1923 Birth of Sargis Baghdasarian, sculptor, artist and teacher. His "We are our mountains" - "Gharabaghthsiner" sculpture (1967) became a symbol of the national movement of Artsakh. He died in 2001.
