NATIONAL LIBRARY DISCUSSES PERSPECTIVES OF HAVING AN ANTHEM
2007 marks the 175th anniversary of foundation of the Armenian National Library. On this occasion the library’s staff has embarked on creating its own anthem. Librarian and composer Lusine Grigorian wrote the music to the song. "In Days of My Severities" song, by the name of one of Mesrop Mashtots’s sharakans, was presented yesterday at the library’s hall before musicians and experts. Asked why is it necessary for the library to have an anthem, head of the library Rafik Ghazarian said that it is only an option and it will be fine to discuss and voice your opinion.
Besides the anthem, the library’s staff presented "In Days of My Severities" CD comprised of 8 sharakans by Mashtots, Komitas and Sahak Zoraporetsi on the music of Lusine Grigorian.

- 1851 Greegor Otyan (in Scutaree) founded the "Subscription Company". In his "Arshalooys Araratian" periodical's supplement he encouraged people to establish a boarding school for the free education of the poor.
- 1871 Birth of Nikoghos Adonts (armenologist) in Brnakot, Sisian province. He died in 1943.
- 1978 Death of Armin Wegener (soldier, humanitarian). As a German soldier in the Near East, he surreptitiously photographed scenes of the 1915 Armenian Genocide as it was being implemented by the Turks. He unsuccessfully tried to warn governments of possible future genocides. He was born in 1886.
