TECHNICAL RE-EQUIPMENT IS CARRIED OUT THANKS TO FOREIGN GRANTS
"The agricultural technical park of Armenia needs to be re-equipped and modernized," Aram Mikaelian, head of Service Department of RA Ministry, said. He stated that modern equipment help carry out more effective works and lessens the risk of suffering loses in the harvest. Mikaelian said that only 2,7% of the republic’s agricultural technical part was imported after 1991. The park includes 1400 harvester-combines, 15000 various tractors and about 700 different types of combines. The above mentioned technical resources were imported during the past regime and they are worn out. Mikaelian said that the agricultural equipment is being renovated thanks to various foreign grants allocated by India, Japan and other states. According to the agreement between RA and Indian Governments, India will present agricultural equipment consisting of 300 tractors costing $5 million in total. By the way, the first part of the Indian tractors produced by "Sonalika" company, have already been imported to Armenia. Mikaelian said that 60 other tractors will be imported to Armenia in three months. By the decision of RA Government the tractors will be sold to the farmers through auctions.
