ARMENIAN SINGER ANDRE DOESN’T CARE FOR ILL CRITICISM
Andre doesn’t care for the various threats that the Azeris send to him since March 12. Certainly, he will pay no attention to absurd and ill criticism of them and will participate in the competition with the will to win. "All of the participants are eager to win. The success I have at the competition is quite unexpected for me," Andre said at a press conference on April 4. As a result of Internet voting, Andre is among the best five singers of Eurovision-2006. He competes with the representatives of Romania, Greece and Andorra. Till May 18, Andre will participate at the semi-final of the competition with a promoter, performing in Romania, Byelorussia, Moldova, Andorra, Monaco, France, Cyprus and Greece. In response to the question of daily Azg, Diana Mnatsakanian, head of the Armenian delegation at Eurovision-2006, head of PR Department of RA Public TV, said that the music TV channels of the mentioned countries initiate TV shows where Andre will perform his song and the clip. Mnatsakanian stated that the representatives of Israel and Cyprus have already applied for performing in Armenia. She added that currently RA Public TV negotiates with the producer of the Russian singer Dima Bilan.
RA Public TV is one of the 38 European TVs that are involved in the implementation of the show. Mnatsakanian didn’t specify how much RA Public TV spent on the show but stated that our expenses can’t be compared to those of BBC and ZDF.
The initiators also didn’t say what song will be performed at the May 18 concert. They just stated that the dance was staged by Yegor Drouzhin, famous Russian choreographer, and quite unique costumes are prepared for the show.
In response to the question by what criteria they chose the song to be performed, Diana Mnatsakanian said that it was chosen through closed voting. "We received 15 songs mainly from abroad. Three of the songs were from Armenia and we, naturally preferred the Armenian one. The other two authors of the songs were composers Aram Avagian and Martin Mirzoyan.
Diana Mnatsakanian believes that Armenia has all required conditions to host Eurovision-2007, if Andre wins the competition.
